It is a SHAME the RJ will print anything that distorts the POOR. Friday, June 1, they printed an article by – Ron Haskins op ed to the Washington Post.

In part it has – from 1991 to 2005 –

According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) study released this month, the bottom fifth of families with children, whose average income in 2005 was $16,800, enjoyed a larger percentage increase in income from 1991 to 2005 than all other groups except the top fifth.

The bottom fifth increased its earnings by 80 percent,

According to the - Congressional Budget Office

Changes in the Economic Resources of Low-Income Households with Children Summary and Introduction

In 2005, the average annual income of the nation’s poorest households with children (those in the bottom 20 percent, the lowest quintile, of the income distribution) was $16,800, which was 35 percent higher in real (inflation-adjusted) terms than it had been in 1991.

That gain translates to an annualized growth rate of just over 2 percent.

Indeed, the lowest quintile of households without children experienced no real increase in income between 1991 and 2005. This paper focuses on lowincome households with children.

from 2001 to 2003. (By contrast, average income for low-income households with children— that is, the households constituting the group as a whole—fell over that same three-year period.)

Questions – Why would Haskins lie?

Why would the Washington Post print those lies?

What does the RJ hope to accomplish by printing the LIES?
